Special Visitor

Dear fans,

Beholder had a very special visitor this month!

Fred Mitchell of Clarkland Farm stopped by to see her – you may recognize his name as the breeder of Queen B. He owns Leslie’s Lady, Beholder’s mother (he also bred and raised Mendelssohn). Fred came armed with peppermints (he knows the way to Beholder’s heart) and whistled his distinctive call for her to come over, causing her head to pop up instinctively.

Beholder spends most of her days outside and can typically be found buddied up with resident Spendthrift mare Coup De Coeur. Q B One is also doing very well, he is in a large paddock with Coup De Coeur’s weanling by Brody’s Cause.

Check back in next month for more updates on the duo!

If you would like the opportunity to meet Beholder we offer tours via www.visithorsecountry.com – we will be adding more for Breeders’ Cup week soon!

P.S – this weekend is the Pacific Classic and we will spend our Saturday reminiscing on the day Beholder beat the boys. It’s a moment we will never forget.

Sincerely,

Team Spendthrift

  1. Thanks for sharing Queen B with us. I am so happy that she and her son are doing well.
It was a blessing that you kept her on the farm. She’s so happy there. God Bless.

  2. Love the updates! I hope I can make it to Kentucky one day to visit her.

Her pacific classic win was one of my favorite days at the racetrack. My mom and I were an emotional wreck after she crossed the finish line.

  3. A true Pacific Classic win. And I was at Breeders Cup when she dueled with Songbird to just get her nose in front. What a way to go out on top. Thx for sharing her with us… the fans

  4. Love the updates on Queen B. I especially love how she recognized the whistle!

So bummed the tour for BC week happens so early on Thurs (I fly in at 9:30am!). I saw her win the Pacific Classic and win her last BC Distaff over Songbird in person. I was freaking out both times! One of the best Pacific Classics I’ve seen in person was her winning it. Love to her and Q B One!

  5. I love the site respecting Queen B. She looks great, her first foal, QB One is a real fine looking colt. I am excited about seeing him on the track. It seems he and trainer Richard Mandella have already formed a bond. I am also excited about seeing her Curlin filly once she gets here. This is all exciting news and continues her excellent legacy. Thanks for keeping us informed, as fans we really appreciate being able to continue our relationship with Beholder.
